Teams is not opening on macbook

Hello,

I have a user that uses a MacBook pro with Catalina on it. Recently teams have not been wanting to work on this user's computer. There were times where it was opened, but then froze and bogged down the performance of the MacBook. Sometimes it wouldn't open when the user would log into their computer for the day. It would just bounce and never open or give out an error.

We have uninstalled and reinstalled the program to his computer but now it just bounces like it is opening but then never does open. I have looked at other solutions like deleting the ~/Library/Caches/com.microsoft.teams  and teams folder but again the same issue.

This MacBook is about 1 month old and has the current update and the rest of the Microsoft office programs work fine on there. The user is currently using the web version of the teams to get by for now.  Wondering if there is anything we can try to get this working again.
Thank you

Ok guys I am running Big Sur. What I had to do was as follow

  1. Open up you calendar and find a teams meeting.
  2. Once you click on the meeting like your going to join. It will pop up a message asking if you want to use the desktop app.
  3. It will then ask you to login and once you do that it works.

Fixed!. In my case, the problem was in the authentication method my IT administrators decided to change.

I mean, if I try to open the Teams desktop application after my company´s VPN, then the app starts properly.

Why do my IT administrators decide to block the desktop app without vpn and allows the browser version?

who knows!, some companies thinks that blocking is better than opening (its a shame).

Now I have to keep the vpn connected all the time loosing the half of my bandwidth I dont know why.

I hope this helps to other people.

    Hi All,

I am having the same issue from 2 days ago. I have done:

    1. Deleted both folders from ~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft and ~/Library/Caches/com.microsoft.teams
    2. Move Microsoft Teams from Applications to Trash
    3. Reinstall the Teams

    Still having the same issue.

I can work and login into the browser app, but always the same screen when trying to open the desktop App. Close the user´s session and login retried with no success, more than 5 times:
