Can't open files from Teams in Office desktop app

I've been using MS Teams to work with PowerPoint and Excel documents with the option Open in desktop app. Until a few weeks ago  when I try to open a document with the option open desktop app I get the launching window of the app (any office app like Excel, Powr Point, Word, etc.) but it doesn't start anything. This is with all the files I try. I haven't made changes to my settings or anything. I have tried to clear the cache in the Teams Folder and I have checked that the apps are linked to the right file types but nothing works. I also have looked on the official site for help and in this community but I can't find any fixes that solve this.

    Hi,

    I have been experiencing the same problem as Dave and nothing seems to work. As far as I can see, no one else who has this same problem has been able to fix it and the MS Support team seem to be giving up. I am a student in lockdown that is trying to complete work but I am getting frustrated with this issue.

    Please help me fix this.

    I fixed this issue by reinstalling office.

    I was able to finally fix this.

    First I tried Office Repair and it didn't work

    Then I tried deleting Powerpoint registry and uninstall and reinstall, again didn't work

    Then I tried really really deleting Office using offscrub https://github.com/OfficeDev/Office-IT-Pro-Deployment-Scripts/tree/master/Office-ProPlus-Deployment/Remove-PreviousOfficeInstalls .. And then checking to see if anything remained and then deleting that before re-installing... Again didn't work

    Then I tried Windows Repair... didn't work

    Then I tried Windows Re-Install while keeping my files... didn't work

    Finally, I did a Windows Clean Install.... That finally worked

    These are your possible options... Microsoft Support is a joke... Don't waste your time... They'll never help you

    I reinstalled Microsoft Office, and that fixed the issue. Best of luck!
