Microsoft Teams Status - Desktop and Mobile

I have recently received Microsoft Teams access as part of my Office pack.

I noticed that with the mobile app logged in, the status is constantly showing "Available" even when i am not active.

This means anyone looking for me would believe that i am available.

Is there no way to set it to show as away or at least a separate status that states "mobile" when we are not active on the desktop App of teams?

It is highly annoying to have to amend the status manually.

    Okay so I tried this yesterday. Turned off Background App Refresh and signed out of both Teams apps. I signed into my Macos device first.

    Everything seemed to work yesterday. Overnight the issue appeared again and now this morning I am unable to change my status on my mac and it is set to "Away". The only way to change this on my MacBook is to actually open up my iPhone and activate teams, which then changes my presence everywhere. No matter what, my iPhone dictates my teams status everywhere.

    In summary: turning off background app refresh did not help (great idea to try, however!). It also doesn't affect calling or notifications from being delivered. I see no discernable difference when background app refresh is on vs off on the ios app.

    I keep both my iOS and macOS versions up-to-date. I haven’t yet noticed what you’re seeing, but I’m glad that you are at least seeing some resolve. Hoping that it trickles over to me - as of now, now matter what I did my presence status i anchored to my iPhone when I am signed in on both iOS and macOS.

    Appreciate hearing your perspective!

    Update: I reported the same issue using Mac iOS and Mac OS. In the past, signing out and back as well as re-installing Teams apps didn't help. However, I've recently noticed since I ran some OS updates and Teams app updates that the mobile and desktop app appear to be syncing statuses more consistently. Hopefully, that means Microsoft has been working on this without notifying us and stabilized the status sync. If anyone hasn't updated their OS and apps recently, you might want to give that a try.

    Note: I don't work for MS, I'm just a user trying to help and can share in the frustration of the lack of support by MS.
