MS Teams crashes when EOS Webcam Utility is used for Video

Hi,

I am using Microsoft Teams for my school. I am using EOS Webcam Utility (NOT Beta) with my Canon EOS 80D. It was working perfectly with video calls for school up until about two weeks ago. Now, whenever I turn on my camera in a video call (and the video setting is EOS Webcam), my Teams crashes and I get an error saying, "There was a glitch. Sorry for the inconvenience. Please sign in again."

In my school, there is an expectation that my camera is on, and my computer's webcam is unusable, so I really need this fixed, and quickly.

Thank you so much for any help you can provide.

Kane

@sean and gary (and others) - the OBS solution described earlier in this thread is a good work-around if you need to use your camera with Teams.

Sure. I'm not on the Microsoft Teams team, just an employee that is also facing this same issue. It appears that an engineer has been assigned the work, and has completed the fix in code.

I'm not sure if the fix has been verified, and I'm not sure what the timeline looks like for when that fix in code will ship to customers, but I would take it at least as an indicator that the root cause has potentially been identified and progress has been made towards resolving the issue.

As an aside, the same issue was impacting certain Sony DSLR cameras, and the fix should resolve for both Sony and Canon DSLR cameras.

Thanks for the obs suggestion. I found that using teams in the edge browser works with the eos utility software. Easier workaround for the time being.

Just logged in a call using the teams desktop app and my canon m200. Its working now.

Edit: It worked when I joined an ongoing call. It will crash if you attempt to start the call.

I have been experiencing this problem since my Teams Windows client upgraded to Teams Version 1.3.00.30866 (64 bit).

Every time I select my EOS camera in the Teams client it crashes with a message 'there was a glitch'. The only work around has been to revert to an older version of the client which works well but is not ideal as I am not getting access to the new functionality. Any updates on progress would be appreciated.
