MS Teams crashes when EOS Webcam Utility is used for Video

Hi,

I am using Microsoft Teams for my school. I am using EOS Webcam Utility (NOT Beta) with my Canon EOS 80D. It was working perfectly with video calls for school up until about two weeks ago. Now, whenever I turn on my camera in a video call (and the video setting is EOS Webcam), my Teams crashes and I get an error saying, "There was a glitch. Sorry for the inconvenience. Please sign in again."

In my school, there is an expectation that my camera is on, and my computer's webcam is unusable, so I really need this fixed, and quickly.

Thank you so much for any help you can provide.

Kane

Agreed - This problem has been resolved in version Microsoft Teams Version 1.3.00.33674 (64-bit).

I am now running this version and V1.0 of the EOS Web Utility successfully.

Thank you to everyone who has bee involved in the conversation

I note on the Canon website that Teams desktop app (v. 1.3.00.30866) will not work with EOS Webcam Utility. They suggest using the web app version.

I was about to download the latest EOS version as i'm currently still on the beta. Good job I saw this.

Is this something that Canon needs to sort out? Or is it a Teams issue?

It appears to be a Teams issue as it worked before 30866. Also, for me at least, this seems revolved as 1.3.00.33674

Things are working for me today - the issue appears fixed for me. Not exactly sure what's changed!?

    My timeline of changes:

    1. I previously manually updated 33674. No crashes with the 1.1 EOS software, but no picture from the camera.
    2. I rebooted my machine last night, no idea if this mattered.
    3. This morning I noticed when I joined a meeting the pre-join UI was different (where you choose if your camera and mic are on. Lots of new options in there which is nice I guess).
    4. About > Version still shows 33764
    5. After the meeting was over I went into Settings > Devices, EOS 1.1 works! No crash.
    6. Selected it.
    7. Next meeting the camera worked fine, meeting was an hour long.
    8. Some time after the meeting ended Teams showed a banner that I had to "refresh" to apply an update or something like that.
    9. I clicked the button in the banner, Teams restarted. Version seems the same still.
    10. Camera still seems OK.

Not exactly sure how updates and features are delivered to Teams. It's mostly built on web technologies, so quite a bit of dynamic update options are possible.

I gave up, bought an M200 and a Chinese usb capture card and it's been working fine. ;)

But seriously though it seems like Teams has a very heavy process for both audio and video that has been causing me a bit of a nightmare to use good quality gear and I really hope the EWU support comes back sooner rather than later as I was planning on repurposing a few cameras in the office to make higher quality videoconference booths and I can't have that level of variance introduced in them...  The Beta version does work and the latest update is promising so far... now to see if it holds.
