MS Teams crashes when EOS Webcam Utility is used for Video

Hi, 

I am using Microsoft Teams for my school. I am using EOS Webcam Utility (NOT Beta) with my Canon EOS 80D. It was working perfectly with video calls for school up until about two weeks ago. Now, whenever I turn on my camera in a video call (and the video setting is EOS Webcam), my Teams crashes and I get an error saying, "There was a glitch. Sorry for the inconvenience. Please sign in again." 

In my school, there is an expectation that my camera is on, and my computer's webcam is unusable, so I really need this fixed, and quickly.

    I have this same issue, Teams  updated itself today to version 1.3.00.30866

    Canon EOS Webcam now causes Teams to crash.

    The EOS webcam works fine with all other conferencing services I have tried.

    Very poor. I spent a lot of time setting this up so that I could hold more professional looking remote meetings especially with customers.

    I'm really lost now :-) I uninstalled 1.1 and re-installed 0.9. In Teams (not crashing) and OBS when I select webcam utility I just get the EOS screen but no picture. I then installed 1.1 which works with OBS and to my surprise also with Teams :-)

    Looks like I spoke too quickly- the second time I tried Teams crashed :-(

    In the meantime I testet a lot.

    I reinstalled Teams, as well Webcam Tool Version 1.0 and 1.1.

    As soon I select the WEBCam Utility in Teams settings - even if no camera is connected Teams crash for 100%.

    Even the way MikeCroy describet cause the crash.

    Is there a place. I can still download the 0.9 Beta? Sadly I didn't kept it.

    Hi - I tried going back to the beta version (0.9) but it did not help. I am using OBS (see earlier responses in this thread) with canon webcam utility which works for teams.

    For me all other apps work - it is just Teams that has a problem.

    It does appear that I can keep both 1.1 and .9 Beta installed at the same time. As long as I choose "EOS Webcam Utility Beta" in Settings > Device it appears to work fine in Teams.

    If you pick "EOS Webcam Utility", it'll crash in Settings and you'll have a hard time choosing a different camera as it will keep crashing after the application re-starts and you re-enter settings - but only after a few seconds. If you're fast you can try to change the camera back to one that works (the Beta entry in the last, or another camera if you have one) in that small window of time before settings crashes, but it may take several attempts.

    I assume using the camera switch button on while in a video call/meeting would be dangerous as it cycles to the next camera "source" without letting you choose. I bet it'll crash as it picks the non-beta EOS camera source. Just avoid the button I guess. Not a big deal if you only have the EOS camera as your only webcam, if you have multiple camera this could be an issue as now you can't change it during a meeting. I doubt anyone does this normally? I used to before my I got an AC adapter for my Canon, I'd switch to my built-in camera during long meetings when the DLSR ran out of battery.

    Edit: After many meetings today (hours) I can confirm that the Beta driver in Teams works when installed alongside of 1.1. I just have to be sure to never switch to the release EOS camera source while in Teams.
