Can't link existing plan in Planner to Teams

My team at work has a plan that was created in Planner.  We now want to also start using Teams, but we are unable to link the existing plan to Teams.  When we try to add a Planner tab to a channel, we get the option to "Use an existing plan from this team" or create a new plan, but there's no option to link to an already existing plan in Planner.  Does anyone know how to do this, or can you only link to plans that were created in Teams?

I just noticed this myself and wonder if I didn't have this problem before until now.

I, too, created a plan outside of Teams. In my case I did it through a Web browser (still don't understand why there isn't a desktop app for planner like there is for other activities). When I click on the drop-down carrot to link an existing plan, it won't drop down and show me choices. It seems stuck.

Looks like this has been going on for a very long long time.

How long does a problem have to exist in Microsoft Answers before Microsoft replies to the problem? I didn't have a problem before, but now I'm one of several people who are experiencing this same problem. Don't call this website Answers.microsoft.com if Microsoft is not willing to provide an answer. If you keep this up you could lose a lot of people to Zoho or another platform.

Could something like this be done as a workaround?

I'm not familiar with Graph, but maybe it could solve also this Planner issue?

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/all/add-existing-plan-to-a-an-existing-office-365/a1569f68-750d-44e2-a4dd-13a735c3c6de

"It's not feasible to merge the existing plans with existing Office 365 group or team. Because these plans are also Office 365 groups. When you created these plans, it automatically created the corresponding Office 365 groups. These plans are the instances associated with Office 365 groups. So you cannot add these plans as tab via Planner app in Teams. If you want to add a plan to Teams, it requires to be determined when you create the plan. For the existing plans, you can only create a new team from an existing Office 365 group. The corresponding Office 365 groups will appear in the list."

I still think it could be done by changing how the Teams Planner app looks at the group and somehow be able to associate the Plan even if its not part of the group.

It is so frustration this is not solved after so many months. It is a waste of time to recreate the planner in teams

I have had the same experience of being unable to link Planner in Teams to an existing Plan. I solved it by using the Website app instead of the Planner app and posting in the URL for the Web version of our Plan. It worked fine.
