My team at work has a plan that was created in Planner. We now want to also start using Teams, but we are unable to link the existing plan to Teams. When we try to add a Planner tab to a channel, we get the option to "Use an existing plan from this team" or create a new plan, but there's no option to link to an already existing plan in Planner. Does anyone know how to do this, or can you only link to plans that were created in Teams?

It's April 2020... I'm still having the same problem that others on this thread have been having. I can't create a new Tab in Teams with my plan that I created in Planner. My plan isn't already connected to a Team, it was original, and apparently will have to stay just in Planner until O365 fixes this problem.
Have the same problem, need to stay in planner. But the existing plan from planner before using Teams appears in Microsoft ToDo on OSX and iOS. On the other side the plans created in Teams appear in Planner and Todo.
Seems to be a bug in Teams !
I am having the same issue. Planner was created, not attached to any other TEAM. Opened TEAMS and tried to add EXISTING Planner item and it does not exist in the DROP DOWN.
We are also having the same problem. We moved to Teams and we would like to use Planner as our task management solution as we pay for the E5 licenses. When you open a new Plan on Planner it is not available to be Opened in Teams. For some reason, you cannot connect a single task to a channel. Isn't it the whole idea? So, sadly we continue to work with Asana (even though you cant connect one or more specific tasks to a Teams Channel. The other big issue is that when you create a Plan you also create a Group. And in the Azure/AD world that a big deal.
I am having the same issue. Created a new Plan in Planner and a new team in Teams, but have not been able to link them.
