Microsoft Teams status is stuck on "Out of Office"

I recently went on vacation and accessed Teams from my tablet for the first time by installing the Teams app. Now I am back at work and using my work laptop. Even though I have signed out of the Teams app on my tablet and removed my work account from all Microsoft apps on my tablet, my Teams status is still stuck as "Out of Office." How can I change it to "Available?"

Things I have tried:

  1. (tablet) Changing status to "Available" on the tablet app
  2. (tablet) Signing out of the tablet app
  3. (tablet) Removing my work accounts from my tablet completely
  4. (laptop) Signing in and out of the Teams app
  5. (laptop) clicking on my profile pic and changing the status to "Available" or any other status. (There is no change at all)
  6. (laptop) typing in the command to change my status to available (no change at all)
  7. (browser) Accessing Teams through Chrome on my laptop and doing 5 and 6 (no effect)

Note that my Skype and Outlook status is correctly set to "Available." I'm at a complete loss and would really like help with this.

I had this same issue - posting this resolution that worked for me, in case it helps others.

I performed all the suggestions in this thread up to the cache clearing...nothing worked.

I opened an Incognito window in Chrome and signed into O365 there. Opened the web version of Teams. Changed my status using the drop-down. Finally, it saved, got rid of my OOO status and showed the correct status in the web version. Went back to the desktop app and it was fixed there as well as a result.

Who knows why this worked - this is definitely a bug.

    Carols,

Mine always shows as out of office and I need this function for my job to reply to all incoming emails with an auto reply. I have never understood why this is called "out of office".

I am unable to override this in Teams which I am also required to use for my employment.

I understand the being idle part but overriding the above would be very helpful.

I am in the same circumstance.  I need to send an Auto Reply but I am not out of the office. Teams is displaying that I am out of the office based on the auto reply.  What is the workaround or fix for this?  Not a great feature.

I've got the same problem.  Having the status change with what's on the calendar is nice, but not being able to override the automatic setting on demand is problematic in situations like this where there's nothing on the calendar and it insists i'm out of office and available.
