Microsoft Teams status is stuck on "Out of Office"

I recently went on vacation and accessed Teams from my tablet for the first time by installing the Teams app. Now I am back at work and using my work laptop. Even though I have signed out of the Teams app on my tablet and removed my work account from all Microsoft apps on my tablet, my Teams status is still stuck as "Out of Office." How can I change it to "Available?"

Things I have tried:

  1. (tablet) Changing status to "Available" on the tablet app
  2. (tablet) Signing out of the tablet app
  3. (tablet) Removing my work accounts from my tablet completely
  4. (laptop) Signing in and out of the Teams app
  5. (laptop) clicking on my profile pic and changing the status to "Available" or any other status. (There is no change at all)
  6. (laptop) typing in the command to change my status to available (no change at all)
  7. (browser) Accessing Teams through Chrome on my laptop and doing 5 and 6 (no effect)

Note that my Skype and Outlook status is correctly set to "Available." I'm at a complete loss and would really like help with this.

You are supposed to read the issue before answering only for the sake of answering. Title of the issue clearly says " Out of Office "

    Thanks Charlene,

Such a simple thing, It didn't work at first for me. A second attempt yielded the result I was looking for.

with outlook open - File - Automatic replies.

Click on the radio button to "Send automatic replies" and click ok.

Click on the radio button to "Do not send automatic replies" and click ok.

Teams status back to normal with no "out of office" displaying.

    Does your org use Shifts?

in the teams app - click on the 3 dots under Files

    find Shifts

my Teams' Status shows out of office because I have a remote day scheduled in shifts. Nothing represents this in my outlook calendar, no OOO, or etc.. The only place is teams that shows Available, out of office

Once I remove my status from Shifts - my status in teams updates.

someone on a business trip might explain this, someone is updating the user's status in Shifts.

I agree, and this is still an issue. Now I am sitting here explaining to everyone that Teams has a bug and I can't change my status after I made a mistake and put out of office today and tomorrow. I have turned off everything and it is still stuck, definitely a bug.

Hi -  I have found that if you change your Status Message in Teams it will sync immediately when this happens then you can delete the message and all will be accurate.

Click your image, click "Set status message" and type something manually - note this will overwrite the out of office reply that is pulling from Outlook, but only in Teams it will not write back to Outlook.

When you click "Done" Teams will refresh.  You can then delete the message (again it will not overwrite what is in Outlook, just what Teams "saw" when reading back to outlook.

Sometimes Teams needs a little push to catch up.

    Hope this helps!
