Microsoft Teams status is stuck on "Out of Office"

I recently went on vacation and accessed Teams from my tablet for the first time by installing the Teams app. Now I am back at work and using my work laptop. Even though I have signed out of the Teams app on my tablet and removed my work account from all Microsoft apps on my tablet, my Teams status is still stuck as "Out of Office." How can I change it to "Available?"

Things I have tried:

  1. (tablet) Changing status to "Available" on the tablet app
  2. (tablet) Signing out of the tablet app
  3. (tablet) Removing my work accounts from my tablet completely
  4. (laptop) Signing in and out of the Teams app
  5. (laptop) clicking on my profile pic and changing the status to "Available" or any other status. (There is no change at all)
  6. (laptop) typing in the command to change my status to available (no change at all)
  7. (browser) Accessing Teams through Chrome on my laptop and doing 5 and 6 (no effect)

Note that my Skype and Outlook status is correctly set to "Available." I'm at a complete loss and would really like help with this.

They need to open a support ticket with Microsoft then.

If the above does not work, that is!

    Please let us know!!

Try below, suggested by someone on this discussion portal ( If works for you, please let us know)

Finally found a solution for this one! I did the following steps:

    1. Cleaned Teams cache as instructed by Microsoft

Fully exit the Microsoft Teams desktop client. To do this, either right click Teams from the Icon Tray and select ‘Quit’, or run Task Manager and fully kill the process.

    • Go to File Explorer, and type in %appdata%\Microsoft\teams.
    • Once in the directory, you’ll see a few of the following folders:
      • From within ‘Application Cache’, go to Cache and delete any of the files in the Cache location.
      • %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\application cache\cache
      • From within ‘Blob_storage’, delete any files that are located in here if any.
      • %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\blob_storage
      • From within ‘Cache’, delete all files.
      • %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\Cache
      • From within ‘databases’, delete all files.
      • %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\databases
      • From within ‘GPUCache’, delete all files.
      • %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\GPUcache
      • From within ‘IndexedDB’, delete the .db file.
      • %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\IndexedDB
      • From within ‘Local Storage’, delete all files.
      • %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\Local Storage
      • Lastly, from within ‘tmp’, delete any file.
      • %appdata%\Microsoft\teams\tmp
    • Once done, reboot and reproduce issue to check behavior after some hours (in my case it took a night)
    1. Cleaned Out of Office calendar items
    • In Outlook Calendar select list view (Change view >> list)
    • Sort on "Show Time As"
    • Remove all items set to "Out of Office"
    1. Removed "Recurring" in calendar items in a certain time period
    • In outlook Calendar select list view (Change view >> list)
    • Sort on "Recurrence Pattern"
    • Remove events in the time frame indicated in "Out of Office" message; in my case August 13, 2018

    Hope this works for you?

I am facing the same issue. Mine seems to be caused by having gone on vacation last week and setting my Automatic Replies on in Outlook for that week. Upon returning, I noticed that my status on Microsoft Teams was "[Any status], Out of Office".

This is clearly a bug that many cannot remedy with the suggested solutions. I'm part of that boat and will be impatiently waiting for a fix.

I have had the same issue for a month now. My IT department cannot figure it out. I've tried everything in this thread, and it has not worked.

Were you able to find a solution?

    Thank you!

I waited several hours for it to fix itself.. How long have you been waiting?

I have seen it take 1/2 a day..

Its been 4 days with one of users in my organization, Today I will check again...

    Resolved Automatically :P

Yep, that's the thing with this. You can bang your head against the wall and try everything available to resolve it, but ultimately, you just have to wait... Now, if we had one go more than a day, we would likely open a ticket with support. But we have seen all of ours resolve in a 1/2 to one day. If it were coming up on a weekend, we would wait for Monday morning to open the ticket. Most likely it will be resolved by then anyways.
