Microsoft Teams status is stuck on "Out of Office"

I recently went on vacation and accessed Teams from my tablet for the first time by installing the Teams app. Now I am back at work and using my work laptop. Even though I have signed out of the Teams app on my tablet and removed my work account from all Microsoft apps on my tablet, my Teams status is still stuck as "Out of Office." How can I change it to "Available?"

Things I have tried:

  1. (tablet) Changing status to "Available" on the tablet app
  2. (tablet) Signing out of the tablet app
  3. (tablet) Removing my work accounts from my tablet completely
  4. (laptop) Signing in and out of the Teams app
  5. (laptop) clicking on my profile pic and changing the status to "Available" or any other status. (There is no change at all)
  6. (laptop) typing in the command to change my status to available (no change at all)
  7. (browser) Accessing Teams through Chrome on my laptop and doing 5 and 6 (no effect)

Note that my Skype and Outlook status is correctly set to "Available." I'm at a complete loss and would really like help with this.

    This article is two years old and I'm still hitting the problem. :D

    Anyway, I've just encountered this just now.

    Again, I checked my calendar and changed my settings. Logged in and logged out.

    I notice an explanation at the end of the thread, I'll get my ITM to check on it later but I've found a workaround.

    Hope this helps someone:

    1. Click on your picture
    2. There should be a status message. I bet yours is an out of office one
    3. Click on the pencil to edit. Type something in there and change the CLEAR STATUS MESSAGE AFTER to a time. I chose an hour
    4. Update it and boom, you're back in the office

    You can probably delete the status message but I don't know what happens when you did that.

    Yes, that will work, but it does not always sync up. Ive had it take 2+ hours to show im back in the office. 

    if you set outlook for all day like you would for a holiday or vacation, teams will not show in office on the day you are back with out doing what you and others suggested. 

    its a product that has been marketed heavily, but has major flaws like this one and the spell checker being worthless.

    I don't put out of office entries on my calendar.

    Yes, I have manually edited my status in Teams.

    it's a great solution for when the auto response triggers it but does not fix the issue for OOO entries on the calendar. Have you tried manually editing your status message in Teams?

    It does not have to be anywhere near as complicated as this.  Please see my VERY simple solution below:

    This is what finally worked for me to solve this issue this morning.  Nothing near as complicated as other posts/processes.  I went into my out of office auto reply in Outlook and set it to only display during a certain time frame today (even though I am in the office today) instead of all the time.  I did this at 8:20 am.  I set the auto reply/out of office message to expire/stop sending at 8:30 am today.  Problem solved.   Status immediately changed to only AVAILABLE at 8:30 am today.

    With that said, I think it's ridiculous that Microsoft automatically uses the verbiage from your out of office message in Outlook to use in Teams.  I want a different message for my contacts in Teams.  Hopefully this will change soon.
