Microsoft Teams status is stuck on "Out of Office"

I recently went on vacation and accessed Teams from my tablet for the first time by installing the Teams app. Now I am back at work and using my work laptop. Even though I have signed out of the Teams app on my tablet and removed my work account from all Microsoft apps on my tablet, my Teams status is still stuck as "Out of Office." How can I change it to "Available?"

Things I have tried:

  1. (tablet) Changing status to "Available" on the tablet app
  2. (tablet) Signing out of the tablet app
  3. (tablet) Removing my work accounts from my tablet completely
  4. (laptop) Signing in and out of the Teams app
  5. (laptop) clicking on my profile pic and changing the status to "Available" or any other status. (There is no change at all)
  6. (laptop) typing in the command to change my status to available (no change at all)
  7. (browser) Accessing Teams through Chrome on my laptop and doing 5 and 6 (no effect)

Note that my Skype and Outlook status is correctly set to "Available." I'm at a complete loss and would really like help with this.

Maybe this will help someone. But it is a rare scenario

My manager has sent a calendar appointment with "Out of Office". I accepted the invite because of this my team's status was showing "Available, Out of office".

Just remove the entire series from your calendar.

Totally frustrated but figured out the issue was because of my manager appointment.

You don't need to remove it from your calendar, just change it to "Available" and when you save the appointment it only changes that status for you, not for everyone else.

Three years later and this is still a problem. I had the day marked out of office, removed that from outlook, but Teams still insists on saying I'm out of office. Can't override. Restarting the app doesn't help.

Problem: I had no meetings for today, and my out of office notification expired today at 8:00 AM. My Teams status was still showing out of office at 11:00 AM.

Solution: create new all day meeting and save. Cancel the meeting. Teams status is refreshed.

It shouldn't have to sync.  You simply set an out office reply (even though you are no longer out of office) to display at a time close to when you are setting it up and to shut off at the next available time....usually 15 minute increments...for it to stop displaying.  It will clear the message in Teams after it reaches the time you scheduled it to shut off.

i.e. if I was doing this right now I would set my OOO to start displaying at 11:15 am and to turn off at 11:30 am the same day.  Problem solved.
