MS Teams with Sony headphones wh-1000xm5

Hi!

I'm having trouble using my new wh-1000xm5 headphones in Teams on laptop and it is no problem with the initial connection process to windows using bluetooth. It can find two outputs to the headphones, handsfree and stereo. I use the stereo as primary but have tried with both. However, in teams calls using the windows application I can't use the microphone on the headphones, people can't hear me and then my sound disappear. The sound works fine and with good quality while using laptop microphone but when switching to headphone mic the sound disappear again.

Any idea what the problem is?

    Unfortunately there is no solution at the moment. Many bluetooth headsets (regardless of brands) have issues with Windows Microsoft Teams. There are many posts on this and Microsoft is not rectifying the issue.

    The handsfree free telephony workaround is not really a solution. The issue still exists.

    I found a way to make it work for me, hopefully it will work for you as well.

    OMG! I didn't know that. Actually, i bought this Sony headset only for MS Teams meetings.

    I'll try to check in Sony's forums to see if they have anything re The mic not beeing detected by laptops.

    Thanks a lot!

    And if anyone here knows how to fix it, please let us know.

    Correct. That’s the only workaround that worked for me. Very annoying, I know… but it’s the same issue with a Bose headphones and I suppose with other headphones as well.

    Ok, i did it. So, it does not appear anymore in recording section. Image

    But, Windows and Microsoft Teams are still not detecting the Sony's WH-1000XM5 microphone.
    See the "input" section (i'm using Windows 10):
