Stopping the microphone from automatically adjusting level

Every time I run a meeting in the Teams app, my microphone level automatically gets set to 100%.

I have set the communications option in the control panel to do nothing and there appears to be no option in the app to stop it from doing this. I have a sensitive microphone that requires low gain - this is very frustrating as I am using it to teach lessons remotely.

Any ideas?

This issue and complaint thread has been for long time since March 2020, but not addressing to user complaint. This should be a critical issue that should have been fixed. Is anyone from MS listening to us?

This Teams mic volume control behavior is simply preposterous!

I just bought a brand new USB mic to upgrade the rather poor audio quality when using the built-in mic of my laptop during Teams meetings.

The USB mic is a clear improvement when testing it with some basic recording software like Audacity, but completely useless for use in Teams: mic level is reduced to 1%, basically completely muting the mic...

As the USB mic is a higher quality podcast type of mic, it is far more sensitive than the typical built-in mic, so I guess Teams somehow feels the need to dial the volume all the way down because the mic (which doesn't have any kind of noise suppression built in) is picking up way more sounds than a built-in mic does.

Teams settings really should include some sensitivity dials to allow users to finetune to different mics rather than only provide automatic mic leveling clearly "optimized" for poor quality built-in mics, typically already including some sort of noise suppression.

I don't understand, how this issue still hanging for a year. Has anyone in Teams development tested with the external microphone?

Using an external USB microphone. When using Teams, the volume level keeps moving from zero to 70+.  Need some clear working instruction to fix it. Thank you

This fixed my problem, Microsoft teams kept changing my microphone gain to max whenever I unmuted and I always had to change back to 16, disabling the option for microsoft teams to be able to auto adjust the mic has fixed my issue, I am using a 3.5mm connection

How? Where is the option to disable Teams to be able to auto adjust the mic?
