Teams away setting automatically switching on when not away

Hi there, 

My teams status is constantly switching to "away" while I am working on my computer. This is very frustrating as my co-workers need to know when I am actually away or available.

Is there a manual override for this? It would be excellent to be able to set it as available so that my team knows they can reach my even if I am working on paper, or in this case if it has switched itself to "away".

    According to the official knowledge base, your current presence state automatically changes to Away when you lock your computer or when it enters idle or sleep mode. If you don't want the status to change to Away automatically, as a workaround, you can minimize Teams and display it in the taskbar at the bottom of your PC.

    Hi thanks for your reply, but it its switching to away mode while I am NOT away from from computer. For instance, right now as I type this it is showing me as away. Teams is open on my task bar right now.

    To better help you, I'd like to confirm the following information with you:

    1.  May I know how soon your status will become Away?

    2.  Please check whether your Teams is up to date. To do that, please click on your profile picture and select Check for updates to see if you are using the latest version.

    Hi Kathleen,

    I have consulted our engineers further about your problem. If we don't work on Teams although Teams is running in the background and we work on our computer, the status will be changed to Away after five minutes automatically. 

    Given your situation, there is a workaround you can have a try. You can set a status message and show the message when someone message you so that your co-workers know you are available at that time. To do that, please click on your profile picture and select Set status message, then type any status message like "I'm available." in and check the Show when people message me option. You can also set the time when the message can be cleared. After setting it, click Done to save the changes. Then your co-worker will be able to see your status message when they message you or @mention you.
