Teams away setting automatically switching on when not away

Hi there,

My teams status is constantly switching to "away" while I am working on my computer. This is very frustrating as my co-workers need to know when I am actually away or available.

Is there a manual override for this? It would be excellent to be able to set it as available so that my team knows they can reach my even if I am working on paper, or in this case if it has switched itself to "away".

Thanks!

I'm actually somewhat relieved that this is an issue for others. I thought I was losing my mind.

Ditto to what has been said - this needs a fix! Skype allowed users to set the time before a status would show as away, so even being able to do that would prevent me from seeing that stupid yellow icon every 15 minutes. With most of the world still working remotely, this is ridiculous.

Also, I have tried to set my status on the app on my phone, and that doesn't seem to work. It shows me as available to me, but others in my organization see me as away.

And given Teams is the client end built on Skype for Business, it's really a degradation.

I agree with everyone else's comments.... This is not a solution.

This issue was posted months ago and I still have this problem to date.

My company is in the process of switching from Skype for Business to Teams and this is one of the worst parts of the switch. I need to be able to show as available when I'm working on other items at my desk or on my computer. I also need to be able to set my status to "busy" when I'm doing focused work away from my computer.

Please provide a way for us to adjust the time limit before Teams considers us "idle." (Skype for Business provided an option in the settings to adjust this and it was very helpful.) Thanks!

Nope. There have been quite a few folks who have added to the thread and some "bubblegum" fixes including the duration setting for status but nothing that makes it what it should be. I don't understand why they can't just link it to your outlook calendar and have it use activity on the computer rather than in Teams. Never had this issue with Skype....just sayin!

Not something Ive seen here but just noticed this AM perhaps we can crowdsource here to test:

Set your status using the mobile app, where duration option hasnt been added.

I set mine to Do Not Disturb on the yesterday afternoon and it didnt automatically switch on my desktop this morning.

No guarantees (Platform, version, etc — Im on I'm on iOS and Mac btw) but worth a shot.
