Teams away setting automatically switching on when not away

Hi there,

My teams status is constantly switching to "away" while I am working on my computer. This is very frustrating as my co-workers need to know when I am actually away or available.

Is there a manual override for this? It would be excellent to be able to set it as available so that my team knows they can reach my even if I am working on paper, or in this case if it has switched itself to "away".

Thanks!

This just started happening to me in the last 2 weeks (Mid Oct 2020) I am actively on my computer, working on emails or spreadsheets when I look over and find myself in the away status. My company uses this as a tracking device to make sure we are working and at our computers during the working day since we are all WFH now. This can lead to someone or myself getting written up or worse terminated. This needs to be fixed and a message is not going to help.

    Thank you

I have the same issue as Dawn15PM has. And The Nacho Cheese, my boss is as same as yours.  It is very frustrating that after all these months, the issue still exists.

This started happening recently to our entire tenant.  It's even happening in the web-app, which MANY of us use now that we're working remotely.  The app needs to have focus every minute or we're 'away' , and it's super annoying if you have notifications turned on for important team members because you're constantly getting spammed with "Person X is now available" notifications.

Whatever secret back-end update did, this needs to be reverted.

Update 20201030@1211 : Yeah it's auto-flipping the status after 3 minutes of the app not having focus.  For the love of binary, WHY?!?

Edit 2: Running Skype for Business in the system icon area as a background app seems to keep Teams alive. I know not everyone has that ability but it seems to be working if you do.

I've been running both applications side-by-side for over a year and this has not been the case.

I'm experiencing the same issues as everyone else.

Sometimes a youtube video running in the background on mute might help, but even that is hit or miss some days.

it is like MS teams is logging your mouse-activity to show different status.

    I DONT WANT THAT.

Where is this data used for?

There is no need for the use of Teams to do that unless there is a commercial reason behind it.

Just give me a checkbutton to uncheck "show away after...." and maybe a dropdown with a list of timevariables.
