Teams away setting automatically switching on when not away

I don’t understand why microsoft has not made this a priority. Looks like these comments are over a year old and I have this same issue. This is a significant flaw to have for a program that is used by mainly businesses… this can put people’s jobs and reputations at risk when management is not aware of this issue.

Skype is much more superior to this program, which is sad because it does so much less. But it Teams can’t even get status under control, then I don’t think I can say too many positive things about this application.

Completely agree with this whole thread. In Skype Business you can set the time before 'inactive' kicks in to a couple of hours if needed, which is fantastic if you are like me and are on a multiple hour Zoom call or back-to-back Zoom calls, but can still multi-task and respond to IMs. Skype Business also tells how long you've been inactive, which helps people know if they've been away for 5 min or 3 hours. If it is 3 hours, they are probably gone for the day, so don't sit there and hold your breadth you'll be able to talk to them yet today.

My teams status is constantly switching to "away" while I am working on my computer. This is very frustrating as my co-workers need to know when I am actually away or available.

Is there a manual override for this? It would be excellent to be able to set it as available so that my team knows they can reach my even if I am working on paper, or in this case if it has switched itself to "away".

This has been reported under many different threads. I was just writing in another thread "MS Teams keeps on switching to 'Away' even though I am still online" today. I later received an email from MS saying they would close that thread and sent me a link to another thread "MS Teams changing constantly to "away" status" which claims MS fixed this issue in 11/2021. Of course most people on that thread said otherwise. Funny this second thread is also closed today. We are getting the run-around and don't seem to get any help or get MS to fix Teams.
My status turn to "Away" while I am watching it on my desktop after 5:30 to 6:00. I timed it. This started earlier this year. My wife was just telling the same this afternoon but hers started > 1 year ago. My boss just wrote me a few days me about work but prefaced by saying You are probably away....". I happened to have gone to the bathroom for a minute and my status happened to switch to "Away" when she pings me during that minute. I said I was there and her response was "I understand!" You think she believed me? No. This is bad for people's jobs.

Your above "workaround" is incredibly irresponsible - For MS Teams to even consider laying this very simple coded App "Fix" on the user is a Freshman's move. Do your jobs, people.

This is horrible that MS hasn't fixed this. Eventually, they will when enough people jump ship. We have customers moving over to Slack and other messages collaboration apps. Even as an MS Partner, I cannot in good conscience recommend teams.
