Hi there,
My teams status is constantly switching to "away" while I am working on my computer. This is very frustrating as my co-workers need to know when I am actually away or available.
Is there a manual override for this? It would be excellent to be able to set it as available so that my team knows they can reach my even if I am working on paper, or in this case if it has switched itself to "away".

it is like MS teams is logging your mouse-activity to show different status.

Where is this data used for?
There is no need for the use of Teams to do that unless there is a commercial reason behind it.
Just give me a checkbutton to uncheck "show away after...." and maybe a dropdown with a list of timevariables.
I checked my settings and Focus Assit was already turned off. So this doesn't help me.
Also, someone said about putting Teams window on a separate monitor. Well, who has a dedicated display just for Teams!
I know Microsoft don't care about their customers and rarely listen to their concerns, but come on....
Do they even have the source code for Teams? I'm a software engineer and could fix it in minutes or at least add an option for people to configure it. Again, come on Microsoft....
I agree that this is a problem Microsoft has to solve properly but in my case I never used my laptop screen as an additional screen since it is too small. Thanks to Microsoft now I have a dedicated display just for Teams.
I had the same issue. As a work around I put the MS Teams window on a separate screen. I use an external monitor with my laptop. I set the laptop screen as an extended screen, put MS Teams window there and keep using my external monitor as the main display. So far it is working.
Alternatively if you have only one screen you can set the MS Teams window as "always on top" (search google how to do this). Then push the MS Teams screen on one side as much as possible. I know this one is less appealing but if this is a big problem for you it may worth trying.
But Microsoft should find a real solution to this problem.
I tried that yesterday and it worked for a few hours, but today has been a different story. Still showing me as away after 5 minutes.

Agreed...it happens to me all the time and I find it very unfair as it effects our reputation as we are shown as away while in reality we are working using other applications whilst keeping Teams in the background.
Microsoft please take this seriously and provide a quick fix for this issue. All you need is to provide an option to the user to enable configuration of the "Away" timeout or if you don't want to allow users to configure it just change it to 60 minutes.
Look back about 5 posts or so at the screenshot - apparently status duration is being added. More of a work around than a real fix IMO, but something at least.
