Teams away setting automatically switching on when not away

Hi there,

My teams status is constantly switching to "away" while I am working on my computer. This is very frustrating as my co-workers need to know when I am actually away or available.

Is there a manual override for this? It would be excellent to be able to set it as available so that my team knows they can reach my even if I am working on paper, or in this case if it has switched itself to "away".

Thanks!

According to the Microsoft Teams Twitter site, they recommend using the Feedback option inside of Teams itself to get a message to the developers. To access that, just click on Help in the bottom left-hand corner of Teams and choose "Give feedback." Maybe in combination with voting on https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/908686-bug-reports/suggestions/41278342-teams-now-setting-my-status-to-away-after-10-min, we'll see some actual movement? I just did this and included links to this answers.microsoft question, as well as the uservoice one. I also tagged Teams in a tweet about a month ago. Looks like our only hope is getting enough people to raise a big enough ruckus or they will just continue to ignore it.

This is one of the worst solutions I have seen from MS.  I'm not going to put a message in Teams saying I'm available.  Teams should be able to recognize that I am actively logged into my computer and working in other MS applications.  I've had several people avoid reaching out to me because it says I'm away when I'm not.  Right now I'm going into Teams periodically to keep my status as available.  This seems like a lot of extra work.  Can't MS extended the time beyond 5 minutes?

This is a huge issue- I'm not super active in teams unless someone is chatting with me or I am in meeting. I also spend a lot of time on the phone we use vonage for through our computers. Switch me to away/yellow status makes it appear I'm not working even though I am.  Microsoft PLEASE fix this.

It happens every time while I am working or on the phone. I wished we go back to Skype--- It was more friendly and easy to use. And i was able to customize it based on my duties for the day

    Microsoft Teams simply sucks

This started happening recently to our entire tenant.  It's even happening in the web-app, which MANY of us use now that we're working remotely.  The app needs to have focus every minute or we're 'away' , and it's super annoying if you have notifications turned on for important team members because you're constantly getting spammed with "Person X is now available" notifications.

Whatever secret back-end update did, this needs to be reverted.

Update 20201030@1211 : Yeah it's auto-flipping the status after 3 minutes of the app not having focus.  For the love of binary, WHY?!?
