MS Teams Helper using up >100% of CPU MacBook

Since the latest update of MS Teams (current version 1.3.00.9271 updated on 07/05/20) on a MacBook (early 2015), every time I now join a Teams call, the Microsoft Teams Helper is using >100% of CPU and causing the laptop to overheat. I have disabled the GPU acceleration as seen on some other message boards but this has no impact, and could do with a fix for this ASAP.

Many thanks in advance.

This post is from 2020... And still an issue today.

Why isn't this solved yet. My CPU is 87% on a teams call.

    Please fix this.

Root cause of mine turned out to be a gaming mouse I was using. Hard to diagnose, though, because the problem didn't always manifest immediately and it seemed to be dependent on my resetting teams.

Here's how I got to the bottom of it:

    1. Unplug everything but power - monitor, USB accessories, etc. Open Activity Monitor so you can check Teams' CPU usage.
    2. Start up teams. Does it still eat your CPU? If not, then this is not going to help and you've got some other problem.
    3. Stop Teams.
    4. Plug in one peripheral and start Teams again. Use it for 10 minutes.
    5. Does it still eat your CPU? If yes - you've found your problem.
    6. If not, stop teams again and repeat for every peripheral you use.

    Hopefully this helps someone.

You made my day. I can report, my Gaming Mouse (Rockt Nyth) was causing this error.
