MS Teams Helper using up >100% of CPU MacBook

Since the latest update of MS Teams (current version 1.3.00.9271 updated on 07/05/20) on a MacBook (early 2015), every time I now join a Teams call, the Microsoft Teams Helper is using >100% of CPU and causing the laptop to overheat. I have disabled the GPU acceleration as seen on some other message boards but this has no impact, and could do with a fix for this ASAP.

    Are you by chance on a laptop? I don't have that option and I am on Monterey 12.1 as well. BOO!

    Yes, I am on a MacBook Pro which is why the Battery option appears. It's kind of frustrating that they put the Low Power Mode under Battery instead of Energy Saver because it would be nice to offer the feature on non-laptop devices as well.

    Hi all,

    wanted to give an update on this.

    For me the low power mode didn't make much difference.

    Turbo boost switcher only partially worked, it stopped it from completely melting but still high cpu, and cumbersome to use + slowed down the entire mac.

    What finally worked for me was to install Microsoft Edge browser for mac, then run teams inside Edge, by logging in to teams.microsoft.com

    Does not overuse CPU even with turbo boost enabled.

    (safari and chrome didn't work as well)

    Lucily my next job will not involve using microsoft teams.

    TX for the update. The Microsoft Edge option is one that I haven't thought about earlier. Would be an ok work around if it works.

    Also, I'm now on Monterey 12.1, and with this OS the fan and CPU so far behave to way they should do. Fingers crossed those solutions continue to work fine and oneday we can finally close this thread.....

    Edge runs like **** as well on my Monterey. It does the same thing as Teams. Chrome no issues.

    I see the post below 12.1 may be a fix. Will check that out next.
