MS Teams Helper using up >100% of CPU MacBook

Since the latest update of MS Teams (current version 1.3.00.9271 updated on 07/05/20) on a MacBook (early 2015), every time I now join a Teams call, the Microsoft Teams Helper is using >100% of CPU and causing the laptop to overheat. I have disabled the GPU acceleration as seen on some other message boards but this has no impact, and could do with a fix for this ASAP.

Many thanks in advance.

Great feedback. I'm looking at a new M1 MacBook and hoping that it can handle the workload. But maybe I need to jump to the Pro?

Having the same issue in 2022, for almost 2 years now. How do we get MS attention to this ? Ridiculous

Try disabling GPU hardware acceleration. It seems to help somewhat. They still need to fix this, but it makes it not so painful lol.

Microsoft Edge for MacOS may have the same renderer issue as well which you can also disable this feature. It runs horribly on my Mac whether enabled or disabled.

What will happen by disabling this function? Any performance issue on the app itself? TIA
