MS Teams Helper using up >100% of CPU MacBook

Since the latest update of MS Teams (current version 1.3.00.9271 updated on 07/05/20) on a MacBook (early 2015), every time I now join a Teams call, the Microsoft Teams Helper is using >100% of CPU and causing the laptop to overheat. I have disabled the GPU acceleration as seen on some other message boards but this has no impact, and could do with a fix for this ASAP.

    Hello Everyone

    Happy (but also very sad) to find that so many people have the same problem as me.

    In these already complicated times, with hours and hours spent in video on Teams every day and millions of MS Teams users on Mac, it's absolutely a shame that no one at Microsoft is taking this problem seriously. It's been 6 months now and dozens of posts exist on the forums but still, absolutely no solution is found or proposed.

    What a pity.

    Many people mention the competitor Zoom, which indeed works without any problem on the Mac...

    And by reducing all these extreme CPU consumptions, you would even do a major ecological action for the planet!

    Come on Microsoft, find a way!

    I have the same issue on a macbook pro 2013, Intel I7, 2Ghz... 

    It’s totally crazy that six months after the first message there, nothing move at Microsoft ! 

    I use often Zoom, Teams, Discord and Meets, and only Teams do that....

    Just started using this on our Macs...It's eating up the CPU and GPU.  Really surprised about this.  Have used Zoom and Google on the same machine and it works great.  Thought it may just be a quirk of the machine, but now I see it's widespread.  Gee whiz MS, please fix this!

    I've taken to using a windows PC to run teams. After 6months of running teams on my MAC the high temperatures generated by teams has resulted in my battery now dying after only 200 cycles. Its insane that needing to spend 6hrs a day in meetings with faulty software causes hardware degradation but this seems to be the end result of the Apple design. Obviously not intended for the MBP to run at such high CPU temp for prolonged time. Given that this has been outstanding for a very long time it seems the issue is systemic and that there will be no fix coming.

    I have the same issues. 2019 MacBook Pro 13, quad 1.7 and it heats up to over 95c. Please fix it, its ridiculous.
