MS Teams Helper using up >100% of CPU MacBook

Since the latest update of MS Teams (current version 1.3.00.9271 updated on 07/05/20) on a MacBook (early 2015), every time I now join a Teams call, the Microsoft Teams Helper is using >100% of CPU and causing the laptop to overheat. I have disabled the GPU acceleration as seen on some other message boards but this has no impact, and could do with a fix for this ASAP.

Many thanks in advance.

Thanks for tips! I will try zoom. And I think you're right. Microsoft probably think it's Apples problem.

    You really must fix this.

    This is incredible:

I can't do anything on my Mac when in a Teams meeting. This problem has been for a really long time now, so I understand that we should find other solutions that Microsoft products to get things done.

It's unbelievable actually.  It's the same with Skype too. I guess because we are on Mac, they are not bothered about fixing it. Just pushes you towards Zoom (which does NOT have this issue)

Not a surprise, but using a connected display with different spaces on my Mac (Air 2020 i5 16GB) while running Teams (renderer) is loading up to 98% of CPU and heating up to 102C.

If you use a second screen and running Teams, the computer will crash if you try to share the screen - it becomes unresponsive!

When disconnected from the second display (HDMI), performance is slightly better, and you can use other apps simultaneously.

That's a big flaw; now I only use my second display when not running Teams.

I have noticed a few improvements in the last update, but still a lot of homework to do.

Come on, MS! You get a big fat check to get your job done.

Same.  Got the M1 Air with 16GB and it eats up everything I throw at it, even Teams.

Helps that it doesnt have a fan also :)
