MS Teams Helper using up >100% of CPU MacBook

Since the latest update of MS Teams (current version 1.3.00.9271 updated on 07/05/20) on a MacBook (early 2015), every time I now join a Teams call, the Microsoft Teams Helper is using >100% of CPU and causing the laptop to overheat. I have disabled the GPU acceleration as seen on some other message boards but this has no impact, and could do with a fix for this ASAP.

Many thanks in advance.

Teams Web is a workaround and is not as feature rich.

I'd recommend opening up a support ticket.  It took about three weeks of going round and round with screen shares with some of the MS support engineers to show them what was happening.  Luckily, the issue was repeatable.

Ultimately they said they were able to clean something out on the backend, hence the need for a support ticket.  My support ticket number was 21663983.  Locally I had to do the following.

    Uninstall Teams client

    Completely empty your trash

Open terminal and run the following remove commands.

    rm -rf ~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams/Application Cache/Cache

    rm -rf ~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams/blob_storage

    rm -rf ~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams/Cache

    Reinstall client

I did this with whatever voodoo they did on the backend....I think what they did fixed it honestly.  They were adamant that I completely empty the trash bin on the last try.  I had gone through uinstall/reinstall a hundred times up until then.

But again, I don't think any of it would have been resolved had I not opened the support ticket.

I'm having this exact same issue, coupled with not being able to share my screen and audio hanging.
