MS Teams Helper using up >100% of CPU MacBook

Since the latest update of MS Teams (current version 1.3.00.9271 updated on 07/05/20) on a MacBook (early 2015), every time I now join a Teams call, the Microsoft Teams Helper is using >100% of CPU and causing the laptop to overheat. I have disabled the GPU acceleration as seen on some other message boards but this has no impact, and could do with a fix for this ASAP.

Many thanks in advance.

I figured out, it is the background image that causes this issue. When switched off, I do not see the issue again.

Microsoft, I have the same issue.

    Running 1.00.324758

Please don't respond with run it in the browser. It also runs slowly.

I have to run it in something other than Safari, such as Chrome, because Teams doesn't run in Safari, the app has to be downloaded.

Teams is used by Partners in Health to support over 1000 people working remotely on the Covd 19 response. I really think Microsoft would do better than this. thank you

For me it is around 60% CPU with Video and around 30% voice only. Very odd and anoying.

Or Microsoft is simply looking for another big fine from the EU for taking advantage for MS platforms over OSX by not fixing serious issues?
