Opening Teams app using link on a Mac

Terrible and disappointing experience on my mac.

Teams Desktop app is installed

I've received a Teams link per e-mail / calendar entry.

I've clicked join in mac calendar, result: Safari link opens

Clicking on the open in desktop app button: nothing happens

Trying to copy-paste the link manually to firefox:

Open desktop app button: opens teams app, but meeting is not joined

Trying to start meeting in Firefox browser:

not possible

Trying to start meeting in Safari browser:

error is showing that Safari is in beta and I could use it..but no button or link to really start the meeting in safari..

I had to install chrome, and use Chrome to join the meeting...5-7 minutes late from my interview.

Please advise how to fix these issues.

This is an extremely disappointing user experience on multiple levels and seems like the issues have been open for months.

As noted in some of the past replies to this thread, to get Teams videoconferencing to work on a Mac, you need to first turn off "Prevent cross-site tracking" under Safari Preferences>Privacy tab, and then click the Join button in the meeting invitation in Apple Calendar. (Doesn't work right in other calendar apps, and it has to be in this order). Select join through the browser (middle button). Trying any of the others two options yield no response. It no longer triggers launching the MS Teams app, but that’s okay since I need Teams for nothing else.

I make sure no other tabs are open in Safari, and immediately turn "Prevent cross-site tracking” back on after the meeting is over. This procedure has worked for me for several different meetings during the last two weeks.

Until Apple and Microsoft engineers can be civil with each other, that’s the best solution I can work out from this thread.

Years, now, with no fix. The very simple answer here is for Microsoft to fix the cross domain usage so cookies aren't considered third-party any longer. Blocking these cookies has been more common to protect privacy and security, but they won't address it. Doing so would make the issue go away and also be a more secure experience.

Not true. I have "prevent cross-site tracking" turned off, and the links still don't work.

Not to mention that Zoom links work just fine with the same browser.

Well. It works for me and has a number of times. As they say your mileage may vary. The sequence I described has to be don in the order I gave. Deviations seem to fowl things up for some inexplicable reasons.
