Opening Teams app using link on a Mac

Thank you for posting. When you say “I get a link in an e-mail on my Mac (using outlook as e-mail client)”, do you mean that Join Microsoft Teams Meeting link or else?

If you are referring to meeting may I know whether you can Join from calendar in Teams desktop client? See Join a meeting in Teams

Not a meeting, though that doesn't work at all either.  I mean a location in teams like a location for files, etc.  it will open in the web version of teams, but not in the desktop app.  Neither chrome nor safari recognize that Teams is installed on my laptop and insist on me downloading the already installed app...

Please try to troubleshoot this issue via using different Mac (e.g. any colleagues Mac) to see whether the problem still occurs.

When I get a link in an e-mail on my Mac (using outlook as e-mail client), neither Safari nor Chrome recognize that I have the desktop app installed and I can only view using the web app.  Any ideas on how to solve this?  My IT department is no help on this.  I have reinstalled Teams multiple times, rebooted, etc.

I have same issue. Any link to file provided by e-mail by colleagues does not work - does not open already installed MS Teams desktop applications -> only browser (safari) is being open offering installation of MS Teams desktop. Despite the fact it is already installed....

If I use chrome for same link it is opened in chrome browser but not in MS Desktop Application.

Same here. Got a link to a teams channel via outlook on my macbook pro (MacOS BigSur) and it opens the link in Safari not via teams
