Opening Teams app using link on a Mac

I have exactly the opposite problem. I have Office 365 accounts through two organizations. For one of them, I need to use Teams within a Chrome browser (on a Mac). For the other one, which I had first, I use the desktop app. When I click on a Teams link, it takes me to Chrome and displays a page of options: open Teams inside a window in Chrome or use the desktop Teams app. That's fine with me, since I'd like to be able to choose on a case-by-case basis. But then, with no action on my part, it always opens the desktop app (which also automatically starts ChromaCam no matter what my camera device setting is - I'd like to know how to stop that, too.). I can't remember how I set this default action or even whether it's a Chrome setting or a Teams setting. All I can find on the web are instructions to set a default for opening files within Teams, not how to set a default for opening Teams itself. Hoping the answer to this one might shed light on the opposite problem.

I have exactly this problem - it is beyond frustrating. It needs to be fixed - common Microsoft.

We now have a few customers facing this same issue.

Sample steps:

• Receive e-mail with a link to a files folder in Teams
• Click on the link will open this in Safari (default browser)
• User can't do anything

Expected behavior:

• Receive e-mail with a link to a files folder in Teams
• Click on the link will open this in Safari (default browser)
• Link will automaticly redirect the user to the installed Teams app

I hope there is a solution for this.

It's been a year and a half since the original post, and I still have the same issue with Teams links opening in my Browser instead of the app. It's not all file links, some work as expected and open in Teams.

Someone posts a link to a file in Teams in the Teams chat, and when I click the link, from within Teams, it opens in my default browser instead of the app.

This issue has been going on for years. When will it finally be fixed?

I use Ical. The meeting link takes me to Safari as standard, but switching to Chrome or Firefox doesn't help. I have already installed the Teams App (So why on earth doesn't the link open the app directly? This is the only reasonable way to go about this is it not, now in 2021?) but yes the link takes me to a web browser. The web browser gives me this message:

The other thing I was wondering. When I open the Teams app, I would imagine that there are a couple of starting points for using the application: 1.Start a meeting, 2. Schedule a meeting 3. JOIN A MEETING (with link/group/invite or anything useful really)?? Where is my option to join with link?

Every meeting I have to ask the host to send me a new link to zoom og google which has made a user interface that actually works effortless. Teams reminds me every time why I switched from PC to MAC 10 years ago.....
