Hi,
When I get a link in an e-mail on my Mac (using outlook as e-mail client), neither Safari nor Chrome recognize that I have the desktop app installed and I can only view using the web app. Any ideas on how to solve this? My IT department is no help on this. I have reinstalled Teams multiple times, rebooted, etc.

In case anyone thinks this is because you've blocked cross-site scripting... it's not. I have "prevent cross-site tracking" turned OFF, and Teams links still can't be used to launch Teams.
Not to mention that this just inexplicably stopped working after working fine in Safari.
Thanks for confirming that I'm not the only one to experience this annoying behaviour. Safari won't launch the Teams app on either my M1 or my ancient Intel Mac. I'm sure it worked before.
On the other hand, Teams does now seem to work in Safari (15.4), and I found the experience not bad. But you can't blur the video background and I don't think you can share your screen.
Thanks also to those who pointed out that opening the link in a Chromium browser will launch the Teams app, even though it needs an extra click. If your original meeting URL is on a (Safari) web page then the excellent StopTheMadness extension would let you open a different browser directly, but it's no good if the link is in an email or a calendar entry.
For the M1 I have ended up installing Teams as a web app on top of MS Edge. The standalone app is still Intel-only and I see quite a few people complaining about performance under Rosetta. Another Microsoft PITA.

agree again - I prefer Safari too
