Opening Teams app using link on a Mac

Hi,

When I get a link in an e-mail on my Mac (using outlook as e-mail client), neither Safari nor Chrome recognize that I have the desktop app installed and I can only view using the web app.  Any ideas on how to solve this?  My IT department is no help on this.  I have reinstalled Teams multiple times, rebooted, etc.

    Terrible and disappointing experience on my mac.

    Teams Desktop app is installed

    I've received a Teams link per e-mail / calendar entry.

    I've clicked join in mac calendar, result: Safari link opens

    Clicking on the open in desktop app button: nothing happens

    Trying to copy-paste the link manually to firefox:

    Open desktop app button: opens teams app, but meeting is not joined

    Trying to start meeting in Firefox browser:

    not possible

    Trying to start meeting in Safari browser:

    error is showing that Safari is in beta and I could use it..but no button or link to really start the meeting in safari..

    I had to install chrome, and use Chrome to join the meeting...5-7 minutes late from my interview.

    Please advise how to fix these issues.

    This is an extremely disappointing user experience on multiple levels and seems like the issues have been open for months.

    I have the same issue on Mac - all working fine until about a week ago. Uninstalling and re-installing the Teams app has made no difference. Nor has clearing the Identities Cache using the instructions provided in another thread on this issue. I need a fix quickly as most of my clients use MS Teams as their default.

    Someone from Microsoft... please help!

    "steams?" That can't be right. I tried "msteams," but that doesn't work. It does indeed open Teams, but it doesn't open the link. It just opens Teams on whatever you were last viewing in it.

    Thanks for the reply. This is definitely a global Microsoft problem, given that it now afflicts both my systems and obviously a growing number of people.

    And yet Zoom continues to be able to open its application from links and a browser just fine.

    What do you expect from Microsoft, the company that bought Skype but managed to miss out on the pandemic-driven explosion of streaming; and let Zoom eat their lunch. Now they've apparently just given up.

    Remember: If your company is paying for Microsoft services, you can demand that they work. Don't just post in forums; demand the service that you're paying for.

    Very annoying indeed. I have been surfing around a bit and found two, not satisfying, but working solutions:

    1. replace the https: in your browser with steams:
    2. or open up the url with microsoft edge. then ms teams 'just' starts
