No sound when entering a Meeting on Teams

Hello,

I have observed on numerous occasions that when I enter a Meeting on the Microsoft Teams Windows app (with my Mic and Camera off, because it is university related and someone else is presenting) I can't hear anything. It doesn't happen all the time. I have tried entering the Meeting again and sometimes it works and I can hear. I have also opened the Volume mixer and that was not the issue (the Meeting was note muted). I even tried reinstalling the App. This only happens in a Meeting, not a private call with someone else and only on the Windows app, not the browser. I would like to use the App though, so does anyone know how I can solve this?

Thank you in advance!

I've found by turning off the "new meeting experience" within the Teams settings allows for audio in meetings. So it's not exactly a fix but a workaround by removing an included feature that may be turned on by default.

It's definitely an issue with the app itself and not with audio drivers, usb peripherals (like headsets), or anything outside of Teams. What I suspect is happening is when Teams creates the meeting in a new window, it doesn't transfer or enable audio output to the new window.

I am also having the same issue. It is wide spread across multiple users/PC's within a school. I tried disabling the new meeting experience but this hasn't solved it in our environment.

Another forum mentioned it was because the 'host' was using the owa version or the installed app and the users with the issue was using the opposite. But i ruled this out by everyone using owa version with the same issues. So this may help some of you?

Has anybody else got any other workarounds/fixes that works for them?

    Thanks,

    Tom.

    Hi,

    Are docking stations being used?

If so, connect the dock to the Thunderbolt port (not the USB-C port) and install the docks drivers.

I had an issue with my machine not pickup a network connection after recieving a new IP address and saw that the dock's driver included one

    for audio.

I am waiting for someone to test this here but would apprecite it if you had the chance to test it while I was waiting.

    Hello,

I have been experiencing the same issue. There seems to be no (easy) solution that you can count on. I have no problems with other applications, sounds of notifications of the computer or several other video-calling applications and web clients.

What I do to solve this is clicking the telephone button in the meeting, selecting the dial-in number from my country and logging in to the meeting. This way, I can use my phone as speaker and microphone. This is not a free call so this is a good solution if you have a company phone.

    Hope this helps.

    Kind regards,
