No sound when entering a Meeting on Teams

Hello,

I have observed on numerous occasions that when I enter a Meeting on the Microsoft Teams Windows app (with my Mic and Camera off, because it is university related and someone else is presenting) I can't hear anything. It doesn't happen all the time. I have tried entering the Meeting again and sometimes it works and I can hear. I have also opened the Volume mixer and that was not the issue (the Meeting was note muted). I even tried reinstalling the App. This only happens in a Meeting, not a private call with someone else and only on the Windows app, not the browser. I would like to use the App though, so does anyone know how I can solve this?

Thank you in advance!

It does seem to relate to external (as in not your tenancy) meetings being setup.
I doubt I'll be able to fix it but I do have a 90 min troubleshooting session with the user tomorrow where I'll strip Teams off and all it's User data folders and re-install. I'll then try to replicate the issue.

If this is a glitch it's a little shocking to see it hasn't been patched yet. The sound issues in Windows 10 21H1 have also plagued a couple of my users in recent months (21H2 did seem to fix it with an additional patch after release).

Problem is this issue was deemed intermittent but now it could relate to external meetings I'm not sure we'll be able to fix it ourselves.

So after extensive testing I was unable to replicate the issue even with the original meeting request that caused the issue.

During troubleshooting I did uninstall Teams, renaming all the folders named Teams in the user's appdata folder, this seems to fix most issues with Teams such as the random freezing issues that plagued our company late last year (but seem to have been patched now).

The newly installed version of Teams does seem to look slightly different with a camera icon on meeting requests as opposed to just a Join button.

I also disabled the user's Samsung external sound on their monitor as they are known to cause issues with Windows 10 sometimes.

I have asked for a new meeting request to be setup by the company that we seem to be having the issues with as a means of a test.
I'll report back once this test has been carried out.

I have the same from time to time. After reboot, it works. After a few meetings, no more sounds again.

It would appear stripping Teams off and renaming the folders in the AppData > Local & Roaming and then re-installing has cleared this error.

It was still just with this one company's Office 365 tenancy. Other external suppliers never had the issue.
