No sound when entering a Meeting on Teams

Hello,

I have observed on numerous occasions that when I enter a Meeting on the Microsoft Teams Windows app (with my Mic and Camera off, because it is university related and someone else is presenting) I can't hear anything. It doesn't happen all the time. I have tried entering the Meeting again and sometimes it works and I can hear. I have also opened the Volume mixer and that was not the issue (the Meeting was note muted). I even tried reinstalling the App. This only happens in a Meeting, not a private call with someone else and only on the Windows app, not the browser. I would like to use the App though, so does anyone know how I can solve this?

Thank you in advance!

I am currently working with the same issue , I am speaking and giving info yet and the mic is taking it , I am hearing clear  responses in Teams and appreciating visible results, with the recent upgrade MS offered.

    Problem solved for me :-)

The problem was that the built in speakers became completely dead, not only in Teams but for all applications.

After re-installation of all audio related drivers it worked for a while but after using Teams it happened again.

It turned out while investigating another problem, (login in Outlook) that I had fast start up enabled.

Turning off this option cured two problems. The speakers are now working.

So the fast start up option seems to do a lot of harm. It caches more than it should I think.

    Power options -> System settings

Uncheck the: Turn on fast start up (recommended)

You might need to press : Change settings that are currently unavailable

The computer will take a little bit longer to boot, but I can live with that.

    /UL

Microsoft Teams Version 1.4.00.7174 (64-bit). It was last updated on 3/30/21.

I'm in scores of Zoom meetings every week without any problems.

Someone decided to set up a Microsoft Teams meeting and it was a complete disaster. Six of the 8 participants could not get audio and/or video to work.

So, obviously everyone hangs up and we reschedule the meeting after we have figured out how to get Microsoft Teams working.

So, obviously... do a test call... and???

How the friggin frig do you do a test call?

And, how come devices doesn't show up in settings?

This is a common issue for many users.  We had a multiple person call across 3 countries and companies this week.  The original invite was for a Teams video call from one of the corporations.  With no sound heard by myself, I had to quickly boot up and send around a Zoom call link.  We all bailed on the Teams call and went to Zoom that worked flawlessly, as always.

This issue needs to be diagnosed and fixed by MSFT if Teams is going to be a viable conferencing platform.

I have this issue too with a customer. She will join a meeting even with a microphone and camera but sound will not play out of the laptop speakers. The only way I've found to get it to work is keep toggling between audio devices until it decides it wants to play audio. Very frustrating.
