No sound when entering a Meeting on Teams

Hello,

I have observed on numerous occasions that when I enter a Meeting on the Microsoft Teams Windows app (with my Mic and Camera off, because it is university related and someone else is presenting) I can't hear anything. It doesn't happen all the time. I have tried entering the Meeting again and sometimes it works and I can hear. I have also opened the Volume mixer and that was not the issue (the Meeting was note muted). I even tried reinstalling the App. This only happens in a Meeting, not a private call with someone else and only on the Windows app, not the browser. I would like to use the App though, so does anyone know how I can solve this?

Thank you in advance!

I have the same issue with a wireless headset (Plantronics D100-M). It shows as the audio device in the Teams session, but there is no audio. My wired Plantronics headset Blackwire C2200-M) works fine, though. The wireless headset works without problems in Skype and any other app that requires audio.

I found a solution to this issue. Problem appears with wireless headsets that have handsfree telephony option enabled. Navigate to control panel -> devices and printers -> right click your headset and choose properties -> go to services tab -> uncheck Handfree telephony option.

It really infuriates me when the suggestion is "check audio drivers" and similar. DO YOU THINK WE'RE ALL STUPID?!

It's not our audio that's the problem here - it's Teams!!

This is a common issue for many users.  We had a multiple person call across 3 countries and companies this week.  The original invite was for a Teams video call from one of the corporations.  With no sound heard by myself, I had to quickly boot up and send around a Zoom call link.  We all bailed on the Teams call and went to Zoom that worked flawlessly, as always.

This issue needs to be diagnosed and fixed by MSFT if Teams is going to be a viable conferencing platform.

    Hi C0410,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, please reinstall the latest version device drivers to check this issue.

You may also try to troubleshoot this issue via using different device (e.g. external USB speaker) to see whether the problem still occurs.

    Best regards,

    Shyamal
