No sound when entering a Meeting on Teams

Hello,

I have observed on numerous occasions that when I enter a Meeting on the Microsoft Teams Windows app (with my Mic and Camera off, because it is university related and someone else is presenting) I can't hear anything. It doesn't happen all the time. I have tried entering the Meeting again and sometimes it works and I can hear. I have also opened the Volume mixer and that was not the issue (the Meeting was note muted). I even tried reinstalling the App. This only happens in a Meeting, not a private call with someone else and only on the Windows app, not the browser. I would like to use the App though, so does anyone know how I can solve this?

Thank you in advance!

Thank you for your reply! I use internal speakers (Realtek R Audio). I have already tried making a test call and it worked fine (I only encounter the problem in a Meeting). I have also tried managing the Audio Settings but the speaker was already selected. I will try to reinstall the drivers and come back with an update.

    Hi C0410,

May I know whether you are using built-in internal or external audio/cam device?

Have you tried to uninstall and then reinstall the latest version of audio/video device drivers to check this issue?

You can try test call to check whether your mic, speaker, and camera are working correctly. See under Make a test call

You may also check your speaker, cam settings when you’re in a meeting, select More options … button > Show device Settings gear button in your meeting controls. For your reference: Manage audio settings in a Teams meeting

Moreover, you may refer to the article to check whether your device is qualified/certified device for Teams client. For your reference: Microsoft Teams certified devices

Your time and understanding will be highly appreciated.

    Best regards,

    Shyamal

I am getting this on Teams meetings viewed with Chrome on Linux.  Sometimes re-connect the meeting helps, other times nothing.  I do get the sound of disconnecting as I give up on the meeting -- so sound driver seems fine...

I've found by turning off the "new meeting experience" within the Teams settings allows for audio in meetings. So it's not exactly a fix but a workaround by removing an included feature that may be turned on by default.

It's definitely an issue with the app itself and not with audio drivers, usb peripherals (like headsets), or anything outside of Teams. What I suspect is happening is when Teams creates the meeting in a new window, it doesn't transfer or enable audio output to the new window.

    Hi,

I finally figured this one out. when this window comes up, it probably shows that the selected option is: Don't use Audio. Unchecking it will not do anything but if you click on computer audio, your settings will be such that it goes to computer audio every time you join a meeting.
