Teams gif button missing

Many of the members of our Team have a "GIF" button along with the emoji and format buttons, but I have never had the ability to add gifs to my chats. I have no idea why this would be happening.

I'm a global admin for my company and couldn't figure out why I didn't have giphy on my teams, despite having the authority to give myself the permission.

while it is possible it's disabled by either an org admin or just the team owner, I found that the icon will also disappear if "optional connected experiences" is not enabled, under privacy in settings.

    easy fix if you disable "read receipt" you will not be able to see or send gifs when you enable the "read receipts" you will see the icon and you will be able to see and send gifs.
