I updated to MacOS Catalina and now I cannot share my app screens. I can share my desktop, but that is all others can see.

Found it.

My system had an entry (unchecked) for Microsoft teams. I think it asked me as I was launching but I blew by it. Not sure how you'd add it if it's not there. You just have to turn it on, and Teams screen sharing will work.

    Hi All,

Thanks for all your work and efforts in this thread. I want to make some update here:

Thanks for Bharat’s workaround: In the full screen mode, the share screen feature would work as expected.

From @Deblanko’s troubleshooting steps, it is caused by some third party applications. And it could be some different apps in different cases. You can reboot and only open Teams application, double check it would work.

Moreover, I will keep in touch with the relevant team. Once there is any update, I will post back in the forum as some as possible.

    Regards,

    Rick

@Deblanko, thanks for this!! It's been plaguing me for weeks. In my case, it was the Harvest App for keep tracking of my time. As soon as I quit Harvest screen sharing worked for me...what a pain!!!

Thanks Deblanko for the idea. I worked through my open apps one at a time until sharing started working. In my case it was the Sonos app. It seems that they don't have a version that plays completely nicely with Catalina. If I don't have that app running, I can share everything in teams like pre-Catalina. Woot!!

After being bugged with this for a while and trying the full screen workaround it suddenly dawned on me that it was caused by the enumeration of the activate apps and one of them was causing the privacy issue.

It turned out that the the Cisco Any Connect (VPN software) was the culprit.

Without it running everything was fine:

    • Reboot would work until you launched the naughty app
    • Full screen would work because it only offers Teams and full screen to share

It fails when Cisco Any Connect is running and Teams tries to ask it for permission to share.

Therefore I guess the issue is with another 3rd party app not compliing to the access request, in my case the VPN software...
