MacOS Catalina and Teams Screen Sharing

I updated to MacOS Catalina and now I cannot share my app screens. I can share my desktop, but that is all others can see.

My system had an entry (unchecked) for Microsoft teams. I think it asked me as I was launching but I blew by it. Not sure how you'd add it if it's not there. You just have to turn it on, and Teams screen sharing will work.

    Hi all,

    So I tried the full screen method and it didn't seem to work for me but I finally figured out a way to get it to show up in the Security & Privacy settings.

    First of all, I have the latest versions of both Catalina (10.15.7) and MS Teams.  I was not able to share anything at all during a meeting.  I remembered being asked during installation about enabling the new meeting experience where it opens up in a separate window so I thought that might be related.

    What I did was this:

    • uncheck this option in settings, see screenshot below
    • restart Teams
    • go into a meeting and share screen
    • it asks for permission to allow
    • and at this point it shows up in the Security & Privacy -> Privacy -> Screen Recording

    Opened a Teams meeting.

    Went full screen, i.e. Control + Command + F full screen, not just the green button in the app.

    Once full screen, then tried sharing.  This time a different type of Security & Privacy prompt appeared, and by following it logically, this time the option to tick Microsoft Teams was actually there!

    Nice bug find, Muhammad!

    Guys,

    From what I was able to test until now what worked was:

    • Switch from window to Full Screen mode;
    • Keep the window of "Security & Privacy" opened (not minimized)...how weird is that!!

    Thank for the suggestion about Full Screen mode!

     plz try this first 

    i tried lots of things and nothing worked. If you go back to 5th of novemnber you will see Muhammad Athar’s post telling to simply go full screen when you are in the meeting and click share screen then you will see on the top of your meeting window something to manage permissions in settings so you click on it then you minimize your teams window and you will find that teams appear suddenly between the apps that you have to give permissions, as simple as that. 

    Plz don’t hesitate to try it now, it really works.
