Can you mute by default whenever you enter a TEAMS meeting? I know this option is available in WebEx, but can't seem to find it in the settings in TEAMS.

We use both Zoom and Teams in our environment. In Zoom, they make it easy - there's an option in settings for "Mute my microphone when joining a meeting". Such a simple, and useful setting. This seems so very basic - Microsoft, take note. You'll start losing business unless you implement this function as it is very important in our business as well. Please fix this....

This thread is discovered 1-2 times a week and that is only counting the people who take the time to leave a comment. I wonder how many more view-only before navigating away.
Does MS read these comments? I struggle to think of a more important, basic function in this current WFH climate.
With all the remote work going on, my organization has multiple meetings a week with over 100 people in it. It happens quite frequently that someone doesn't notice their mic is not on mute. If you're in a hurry to get into the meeting and you don't give teams a second to check how many people are in the meeting, it's possible to join without it muting the mic for you. That happened to me this morning and I came looking for this exact thing.
If you had asked me yesterday if it was possible to have your mic muted by default, I would have said, "yes, 100% possible." Really shocked to find that it's not something you can set by default. I rely heavily on that setting in other apps for work.
Agreed. Also color coding the camera and mic icons would be helpful Green for on Red for off.
More than once I've received a call in Teams and clicked the red button to answer. The red button just stands out, and is the first thing I click. I think the answer button is a pale blue, or maybe even just gray. I would love it if the answer button was green.
Also, I came here hoping auto mute would occur no matter how few people are in the meeting. Seems silly that by default it doesn't just mute you when you join a meeting, no matter how many people are in the meeting.
