Can you mute by default whenever you enter a TEAMS meeting? I know this option is available in WebEx, but can't seem to find it in the settings in TEAMS.

Agree with everyone looking for a setting for "default to mute" when joining meetings.

Major issue #1: Most of the time when you join a meeting and there are already people joined it will default to mute... IF YOU'RE SLOW ENOUGH. I'm not slow. I click on the meeting and immediately click join. Do this fast enough and Teams doesn't have time to see if there are multiple people to auto-mute you. Not everyone moves at sloth-speed.

Major issue #2: Transfers. I was joined to a meeting on my phone, muted. I transferred to my computer, I was automatically unmuted! If I'm muted and simply transferring devices, why would you think I wanted to go hot-mic all of a sudden?

Seconding Piotr Papiurek's reply, is a feature coming where all meeting participants, dial-in or via the MS Teams application, join the meeting in a muted state? The manual mute features for an Organizer or Presenter are great, but if you have 75-150 participants, repeatedly hitting the "Mute All" button is hardly efficient to keep a conference quiet until a presentation is underway. People join the meeting from their desk, their home, or while enroute to the office, which allows a good deal of background noise. Mute by default, with the ability for an individual to unmute when there is a need to speak, would be an amazing feature for many.

Microsoft, I'd like to join 1:1 meetings or other small meetings with mic OFF by default. The reason is, I am often scrambling to do other things and need Teams to be connected to a meeting. But, I don't want to wait for it to load and take an extra cycle to have to remember to hit mute, until (and if) a 4th person joins. It's automated, but in a not-useful way, because the behavior changes depending on what others are doing on the call. For me, I'd like it to just be "Off (muted)" until I say that it's time to talk.

Dear Microsoft, This is the biggest issue I have with Teams: Users should be able to set their own default to mute when joining a meeting. If you are muted when you think you are not, it is slightly embarrassing, but doesn't disrupt the whole meeting. If you are not muted when you think you are, it can be really embarrassing and it interrupts the entire meeting. Every Teams meeting I am on, at least once per meeting someone is not muted who thinks that they are and it disrupts the meeting. Webex lets you set your own configuration to mute when you join a meeting. MS Teams has a fundamental flaw that needs to be fixed. Why would you not give users this option???

@microsoft Fix this now!!! Why does this happen over and over for 25 years with MSFT? That is, a simple, effective feature or bug fix is ignored for years. It's almost like a badge of honor or inside joke at MSFT to see how long they can make a customer suffer.
