Can you mute by default whenever you enter a TEAMS meeting? I know this option is available in WebEx, but can't seem to find it in the settings in TEAMS.

Before you add another emoji... Please allow us to set the configuration of the microphone as a setting. This is vastly more important than any emoji...

Five years later and this is still an issue. Just add this ability to settings like Webex, Zoom, etc. has done so "we" can manage how we want to join meetings with audio/video.

    Here is suggestion for you.

    Add a new Setting:

    Meeting Join Options

___ Mute audio when I join a meeting

___ Turn off video when I join a meeting

Or place each applicable setting under Device section for Audio and Video.

I would prefer this feature over custom emojis.

It's also erratic, if there's 4 or more people, it auto-mutes. That great, an inconsistent experience. It's still a level of overhead placed on the user. It may seem like this is a silly concern, but when your jumping from one meeting to the next it's just another thing to track; it presents a pitfall for user error. They may even accidently unmute themselves if they aren't paying attention.

These are all issues fully alleviated by just providing an option to always be muted when joining a meeting.

Hi! This is Nicolle an Independent advisor.

Usually, before you join a meeting in teams there should be a window that will appear on your screen for an option if you are mute or unmute before you click the "join" button.

You can find also find useful answers in regards to that:

In other words, you have to remember every time you join a meeting - this needs to change, to elevate MS to Zoom!

Yes. It drives home the meme that was going around the internet about the advancements that Microsoft made in quantum computing. The line was something like "Microsoft will literally create a new form of matter before it will fix Teams".
