Can you mute by default whenever you enter a TEAMS meeting? I know this option is available in WebEx, but can't seem to find it in the settings in TEAMS.

Microsoft, where art thou? Wakey wakey!

We are urgently waiting for a response.

Please, this is a SIMPLE feature to add to make Teams a great app. It is just common sense.

Came to this forum looking for a default mute. Apparently it is not available. Does Microsoft realize there could be confidential information leaked or personal information shared accidentally especially with people working from home . Careers have ended when cameras and mics have been on accidentally.

There is a reason Zoom / WebEx are still hot favorites.

Hope MS wakes up - and soon.

Agreed. Also color coding the camera and mic icons would be helpful Green for on Red for off.

Looks like this STILL isn't an option -- one and a half years later! Thought I read somewhere that Microsoft was serious about competing in this space. Guess not.

you can achieve this by being the organiser going to meeting options, setting yourself as the only presenter - this will auto demote all participants existing and future joins to attendees, as then you have attendees you can select mic off for all attendees - this will literally force everyone to be muted - then you can turn mics back on when you are ready to start and attendees will have option to turn on or unmute themselves.

see screenshot - effectively solves the problem you describe - also solves auto attendees so kids cant mute or kick others.

when ready to start meeting re-slide the allow mic for attendees and they will still be muted just have option to unmute (if you like)

This works for the meeting organizer to handle at the beginning of the meeting, but it doesn't seem like it will address the individuals who join late and are unmuted and we hear all their background noise. Is that correct or am I missing something?
