Teams: Starts and shows Continue button that does nothing

Hi,

I just installed the Microsoft Teams desktop app. When I start it, it says "Welcome to Teams!", offers me a pulldown choice of "Personal", and a button "Continue". Clicking Continue does nothing. What do I do to start using Teams?

Thanks

Hi Iola,

I'm Nik, an independent advisor here to assist you with this.

To give you the background that MS Team free comes in two variants.

  1. MS, Team free personal account(accessible from mobile/web app https://teams.live.com). You don't need to sign for this as it comes with all Microsoft account

It looks like you got the MS teams personal on the Desktop app early to release on your device, but it has not yet worked completely.

I'd suggest waiting for Microsft announcement on MS Teams personal life launch that schedule to release soon this month.

For more, see https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/r...

Regards

Nik

February 2023. Was just about to come here and say how it's still not working, but as one last ditch effort I tried signing out and signing back in again, and now I'm in to the main interface.

Can confirm, in order to get past this issue (on Mac desktop client in my case), the following steps were taken:

    1. Upgrade to the latest version of the desktop client (manually download / install again).
    2. Start the application (and observe same broken behavior).
    3. Manually sign out and back in again (will trigger the UX to "unbreak" itself).

This is the Solution that worked for me:

I uninstalled Microsoft teams then I reinstalled it. It seems that there are two different versions of Teams on the install, one for work and a personal version, so I installed the personal version after having tried to use a personal account to sign in before, and I was able to sign in easily. So it looks like the problem for me was trying to use a personal account to sign in to the work version of Teams.

This is what worked for me on a PC: I had to uninstall the version I had, which apparently was the free test version of the business version, called Teams Classic. I reinstalled the new free personal version. However, the free version will be discontinued on 12 April 2023. You'll then need to upgrade to the personal 4 usd/mo version. Nothing is free for long with MS...

You may also run into MS account password issues, having to reset and send codes to your phone several times if you haven't logged in for a while.

Finally, if the first time you launched the newly downloaded version, you get a "something happened message", log out and log back in and it should fix the problem.

Explanation here: (if the link gets removed search for Microsoft Teams free classic retirement)

    Good luck everyone!
