Hello,

My in built microphone on my laptop works well with other  and is good on the voice recorder but I cannot take part in audio conversations on Teams because others in the conversation cannot hear me. I have tried settings on Teams and on my laptop control panel but haven't been able to fix the problem. Can anyone help?

Thank you in advance.

I have the same proble, brand new Dell Lattitude laptop, and just restore it with no success, I´ll be using a Headset until Microsoft team have enough time to fix this very small problem (sarcasm) it is unbelievable that the mic does not work.

So it isn't a Windows version related issue. It is definitely driver related. I have 2 different Lenovo laptops as examples, one that is working fine and the other that isn't.

The one that is working is running Intel Smart Sound Tech (Intel SST) driver from 3/18/2019 v10.0.18362.1 for the Mic Array and Intel Smart Sound Tech (Intel SST) driver from 8/29/2019 v10.23.0.2903 for the Audio Controller.

The one that isn't working is running Intel Smart Sound Tech (Intel SST) driver from 12/6/2019 v10.0.19041.1 for the Mic Array and Intel Smart Sound Tech (Intel SST) driver from 5/9/2020 v10.25.0.3950 for the Audio Controller.

So at some point between those 2 versions something has cause Teams to record in a tiny voice...

    Still running tests.

I beat you to it (see my earlier post) and agree Microsoft have no answer to this problem and the only solution I have found which works all the time is an external USB mic.

If only Microsoft would be a Big Company and admit it cannot solve and suggest this solution themselves then I would think more highly of them!

Hi guys, I've given up and purchased an external USB mic which I've dedicated to Teams and it works fine. I need Teams for my work and meetings and Microsoft obviously does not have a solution to this problem. So I suggest that you all do the same and get an external UBB mic.

    I hope this helps.

We are also experiencing this issue. I have a Lenovo 20T00023US, brand new, just imaged it. We are using the built in Microphone Array. It is stuck at 67 for the volume level, not sure what is freezing it there, but when using the Mic Array with any other application sound works fine, even when the user is sitting 3 feet away you can still hear them perfectly. However, when using teams it barely registers as a whisper.

Incidentally this laptop and others that are having the issue are on Windows v2004, while I have tested with my laptop which is an ASUS ZenBook running Windows v1909. Will test more on this shortly.

Obviously Teams online will work fine as the Mic is going through the browser and not through the Teams app.
