Export messages from Teams Chat?

The thing is that the export functionality on Channel conversations is already there and perfectly working, by selecting the first message of a Channel conversation and then choose “Share to Outlook”.

So why oh why doesn't Microsoft simply make the same functionality available for Chat conversations? This would easily solve the problem that everyone has in not being able to archive/export their important Teams chats.

If this feature would be unlocked, one could simply send chat conversations to oneself via Outlook, and then archive them as MSG files, for example.

In addition, this kind of export to Outlook even would contain all embedded images from the chat in their original resolution!

Here is the workaround that works best for me:

1. Start with blank doc in one window; Teams chat in another.
2. Note that each message of a chat conversation appears in its own selectable CHAT BOX. Therefore, in the Teams chat window, place the cursor in the first chat box you want to export. Do not select anything. Just click anywhere inside that box.
3. Now, holding down the SHIFT key, use the DOWN arrow to jump to the next chat box. The first box should become fully selected(!).
4. Continue hitting the DOWN arrow until it becomes unresponsive. Several chat boxes will have been selected and it has reached its limit.
5. COPY then PASTE to the document.
6. Repeat steps 2 through 5 until entire chat is copied.

(This works on the client and web versions of MS Teams on a PC.)

If the content is over a few screens in length, this method does not work.

Clicking and dragging with the mouse will work for a screen's worth of content or so, then the screen refreshes and what is highlighted gets lost/unhighlighted/forgotten/left to perish in the annals of time and space.
