Conversation button missing in documents and spreadsheets in Teams

Just getting back to work after vacation and noticed the Conversation button in the top right-hand corner is no longer visible when documents and spreadsheets, both existing and new, are opened in Teams. We use the Conversation button to notify and tag the appropriate channel members that the document has been updated and to share information. This button is no longer available/visible to me; however, it's visible to my associate. See the attached screenshots of a document that was created and opened in Teams.

• Screenshot #2 is from my associate's Teams application (MacBook Pro) with the Conversation button circled in red.

Here are the Teams applications version numbers for myself and our associate. I'm confident that this issue is directly related to the latest version of Teams that was updated yesterday; however, Microsoft Chat Support says that's not the case.

Me: You have Microsoft Teams Version 1.5.00.17261. It was last updated on 6/29/22.

Associate: You have Microsoft Teams Version 1.5.00.15861. It was last updated on 6/14/22.

I've also confirmed that a user outside of my organization running Version 1.5.00.17867 is also experiencing this issue as of this week.

Any assistance would be very helpful.

    Please let this not be true, this is a very fundamental collaboration button!

    Does Microsoft see the removal as a new feature?

    Changes to the Office ribbon in Teams include:

    • Open in Browser and Open in Desktop App move to the mode menu
    • Introduction of the Share menu, consistent with Office for the Web
    • Conversation button is removed
    • Introduction of in-app Search bar in app header

    Workaround is (but more steps):

    In a document in teams, click on

    Go to posts, create new conversation en paste te link in the chat.

    No, it does it even when in editing or reviewing. It's gone completely for me, but not for others within my organization, so I'm confused about why that would be as well.

    The issue is not that it's "grayed out" like it is on your screen--if you look at the original screenshots, the "Conversation" button isn't even there anymore.

    I'm curious. For the documents that have the conversation button disabled, are the documents setup in view only mode?

    For some of my documents, when the document is set to 'Editing - Make changes', the conversation button is enabled.

    My work Colleagues and I are having the same issue. We rely heavily on being able to tag each other in a conversation in certain documents.

    I hope there is a solution to this soon.
