Conversation button missing in documents and spreadsheets in Teams

Same here - this is the second time I've been either "versioned out" or "updated out" of having the conversation function. And I agree it is a core/central function of collaboration that makes MS TEAMS the place to work with distributed staff. I also tried on the web version just now, no conversation button.

I can no longer collaborate on documents of any kind in TEAMS unless I used the comment function; it's a poor substitute because I have not found anyway to @ all the members of the channel as a group. Instead I have to message folks one by one or add names one by one. I end up making docs, then going out to the general location and telling the team to go find something and look at it. This is like walking around the block to get to the other side of my front yard.

We have looked for weeks to find anything about this issue. Now that it is found I would like to add my voice to the pleas to restore the conversation feature. Like the other commenters have pointed out the conversation feature is the core usefulness of TEAMS. This is the second time we have lost the future but only 50% of us have lost it twice while the others still have it and have had it all along. That to us makes this seem like an unplanned action. If unplanned please make it a priority to repair the problem. If there is a plan to remove it eventually for all please reconsider. I assume if planned to be removed that Microsoft would let the consumer know and also provide a suitable and improved replacement function. I can't imagine they would remove function with no thought unless they have lost touch with how the end user depends on this core collaboration method in the tool developed and marketed as state of the art collboration.

We cannot find a workaround that is suitable. I had read in one blog that the comments tool is receiving devlopment attention and being promoted as improved. While it has it's place with granular edits it disconnected between the comments and doesn't keep a cradle to grave conversation string to keep you collboration process organized and discernable. Also the @mention sends a message outside of TEAMS to Outlook and when you open the email and hit the link it takes you back into TEAMS. That is entirely confusing to end users. It is unnecessary out of direction travel for sure! If we have to suffer with the comments tool being our main collboration tool can there be a way that the @mention alerts within teams as a chat or activity notice? To be clear it in no way replaces the need for the conversations tool.

Just adding my voice to this issue. It's a fundamental way to collaborate and make sure that the right version of the document is being shared as opposed to attaching a document to a chat which might be a different version.

It's absolutely mind-blowing knowing that they're even considering removing this functionality from Teams! It's one of the Top 5 things we use within the program.

My conversation button was available to me this morning; went to lunch and it's now disappeared again. It is the most important collaboration function we have ... and it needs to be returned ASAP.
